Several dogs rescued from mistreatment at dog breeding facility PRYOR, Okla - Eight dogs, all males are now rescued from what the SPCA calls horrible conditions. "Filthy, hadn't been cleaned in I don't know when. Some of them had water, some of them didn't," says Cruelty Investigator Wade Farnan. The dogs are King Charles Cavalier Spaniels, two of which are puppies. They were kept on an Amish farm with no running water and no electricity in a wooden building. Inside, they were housed in wire bottom cages and exposed to extreme heat. Officials say the dogs were owned by a woman in Pryor, but a couple who lived in Chouteau was supposed to be caring for them. "She had not been out there for quite sometime, she really didn't know what was going on, she left it up to these people to take care of the dogs which they didn't do," says Farnan. Many of the dogs have matted up fur and they all have fleas. But they're not in the worst shape as employees say they see cases of bad breeding quite often. The first thing they'll work on is getting the dogs healthy. "As you can tell, they're very scared. You know so the outside is easy, it's the inside that takes a lot of work," says Clinic Manager Julie Allday. The SPCA says they will work towards getting the dogs socialized and then try to find good homes for them. Authorities say they will not prosecute the owner since she gave up the dogs.
